Chapter 8 Mission from God
With that super vague sentence as my only clue to where this garden, I went home to get equipped and caught up on whatever news there is. I find that we actually went north and that the portal was a short walk of five miles away.“Where are we off to,” KoKabuterimon asked, “and you can put me down now.”
“Home,” is all I said, “I have to get some useful things, like a medkit.”
“The nearest portal is five miles away,” KoKabuterimon complained, “are you saying we have to walk there.”
“Yes,” I answered, “then we will walk to my house. And, FYI, how do you feel being in a sandwich container.” With that, we got to walking. Betzalel stayed with Impmon to make sure he recovers.
After the five miles, I find a red and black portal. I see that this is the portal the radar is pointing towards and go through it. I was back at the real world and everything was there, but there was no people. Not a single person in the school. I walked out of the classroom and saw that, not only should it be fourth hour, but there is no sign of life. I was suddenly conscious of how weird Motimon looks with me holding him like he was a pet. I saw a water bottle in the trash that looked like there was nothing in it.
“I need you to go in this water bottle,” I order, “not a lot of people hold pink slimes in my world.” Motimon just hopped in and I put the cap on. I met a classmate roaming the halls and asked them why there are no people here.
“They closed school because of Matthew,” my classmate said, “where were you second hour.”
“Matthew?” I asked, “what about Matthew.”
“That is a hurricane heading for us,” they said, “they sent us to go home because they thought it would be better to outlast the storm in a house as opposed to a building made out of concrete.”
“I’ll be off,” I said, trying to be upbeat and full of energy, like I always am. I stop at my locker to grab my backpack and lunchbox. I quickly walk home and go in through the garage door. Only my brother was home and I evaded his gaze fairly well, since he was in his room. Once in my room, I got everything together. My first aid kit, knife, shorts to run in, and the replica video game sword I had hanging up.
“Let’s go,” I said and boot up my laptop, “we’re going in.” Motimon was next to me, trying to get out of the water bottle. “Sorry, lemme help.” I open the cap and turn it upside down. Motimon came out with a shlorp. “Now how to I open the portal?”
“Just use your digivice to open a portal at any computer,” Motimon answers, “it just has to be on for it to work.” I boot up my laptop and use the digivice to open the portal. The same portal came through my screen and became six feet tall. I pick up Motimon and walkthrough to see what was on the other side.
“Who goes there,” a booming voice questions as I can see again.
“I’m trying to find the garden of Eden to see its guardian to train with him,” I answer.  Might as well speak truth.
“No one passes into the Garden,” the digimon, I can now see, refuses. He is a huge bug with wings that is twice as big as I am. I look past him and see a tree with golden apples on it with one apple missing.
“So that one,” I asked as I pointed to the perfect tree in the center, “I just want you as a mentor. Me and my friends are going to get stronger to defeat Beelzemon at his castle.”
“No you can’t...” he droned on, “wait, you can see the tree. Then you are a nephilim, one of the few chosen to go in the garden.”
“I just want your apprenticeship,” I confirm, “I don’t want to go in there, no matter how good those apples may taste.”
“Very well, my name is GranKuwagamon,” GranKuwagamon introduced, “first path on the left is your cabin, wait there.” I walk the path and look to the right. There is a hedge maze that seems to go on forever. I see the left I need to take and it’s right next to the tree. I contain myself enough to walk pass it without taking a bite of one. I see my room for the next I don’t know how long, a one story flat and next to it, a luxury condo with a pool.
“Which one,” I asked though I guessed which one I had to take.
“The single story one,” GranKuwagamon yelled from the entrance. I opened the flat and looked inside. It looked like a normal apartment, complete with a brochure with room service on the bed. It all the basic room service items and a few items on it that seemed out of place and didn’t make sense, there was a clif bar, a quart of gatorade, and something called ‘energy juice.’ The juice was a fruit punch with caffeine. I looked in another room and found a punching bag. One thing to do now, I punched that bag with all my might. I also saw a mini fridge with soda, water, and shot glasses of energy juice. Weird, it’s just fruit punch with caffeine, why have such small quantities.
“Hey,” I shout when I get back outside, “I need a schedule or an itinerary for the training. When do we start?” As soon as I said that, I felt something hit the back of my head.
“Lesson 1,” GranKuwagamon explained, “find the enemy before they find you.” Ow. I look at behind me and see he is about to hit me again. I rolled out of the way and grabbed my digivice. He knocked that out of my hand.
“Lesson 2,” GranKuwagamon chided, “predict actions then plan around them.” This goes on like this for a little while, so back to Gabe.
