Chapter 3
“Alright guys we have a set of Combat a set of uniforms ready for you three.” Steven instructed, “in the room to the right there will be a rack, with them so suit up.”
When we had our uniforms on, they felt like they were a few sizes too small and too baggy at the same time. They had a khaki jacket with color coordinated undershirts with hosters, complete with green survivalist pants and combat boots.
“Are you sure these are the right uniforms,” Connor asked, “they feel tight.”
“We’ll resize them later, but if you three don’t get out there now a lot of people will die…” Steven ordered. We looked at him for a minute, waiting on a location. “Down the street to your left.” He answered the silent question and we were off.
It wasn’t hard to miss the serpentine dragon, for he was about the size of a subway train.
“Well then, Uh guys, we probably should, keep him in a single area?” I suggested, but I looked over and the Digimon already left “what the hell guys!” I threw a fire blast at the dragon at the same time Brendan used his wind to bring the monster down. What happened was that we accidently created a wildfire in the middle of the fight and the dragon looked fine.
“Gabe, you find a bucket,” Brendan said as he pulled out his partisan, “I’ll go and poke him.”
“What!, Why are going to poke the freaking Dragon!” I exclaimed, but Brendan just ran off. I went to find a bucket, but as I ran around I found Daomon, he stood there looking at Airdramon.
“I knew him, he wasn’t like this back in the digital world…” Daomon said, as a tear ran under his visor, “Airdramon’s changed I can see it in his eyes…”
“How was he different?” I asked.
“Not all digimon, are animals, we have personalities, hopes, and dreams, a soul some would say…”
“So he went feral,” I summed up. Then I heard a scream from where Airdramon is and a roar.
“We have to stop him, I can’t help him when he’s like this, maybe then we can figure this out.” Daomon said, determined to help. I nodded then ran back to see what was happening. The scene was now a winter wonderland. There was ice and snow everywhere. Brendan was hobbling to where I was and Connor was in the middle of this contained blizzard, surprised at the outcome. The dragon is being held to the ground by four icicles.
“Friendly fire is on,” Brendan yelled to Connor, “watch who you’re hitting.” I looked at the dragon whom had a look of fear and confusion, within his eyes, I couldn’t help but feel sorry for him.
“Daomon, can you please, do the job as fast as you can…” I asked my partner.
“A-Alright,” Daomon agreed as smoke seethed from his nostrils, as he approached the dragon that was once his friend, “I’m sorry… Chaos Burst!” he exclaimed as to beams of energy came into a ball, which was fired at the Dragon, causing golden energy to flow from the wound as a sphere flew into the air which had black and purple chains around all connected by a black lock, causing our D-Chambers to light up again.
“Hmm?” I looked at it, “what should I do?”
“Like the lock at base?” Brendan guessed, it was the only thing we had so, I held my hand into the air, but nothing happened, but a gate opened causing the sphere to be sucked into it.
“I don’t think that’s what we wanted,” Connor replied.
“Definitely…” Kamemon agreed, as he pulled himself off the ground.
“What happened, I was thrown three blocks!” KoKabuterimon yelled. I looked around and realised that if we weren’t here, this would have been worse.
“Guys… look around…” I suggested, “this is our first battle.” I remorsed, at the destruction.
“Let’s leave now,” Brendan suggested.
“Yeah…” Connor agreed.

Back at the HQ.

“What the Hell was that!” Steven shouted “I mean yeah that was your first fight but come on that was a fiasco!”
“‘Hey let the noobs deal with a situation without any training’ sounded better in your head,” Brendan countered, “where is some gauze and antibiotic ointment?”
“It’s in the command center in a box that says ‘First aid’” Mathias replied.
“Gotcha,” Brendan responded and hobbled over to the box.
“Look I’m old I’ve been doing this for thirty years, I’m tired okay I know that’s no excuse, but can’t you let an old man rest…” Steven answered “I know I should have helped you three, me being tired is no excuse, I’m honestly sorry.”
“I did do something interesting,” Connor commented, “I made a blizzard for a few seconds.”
“Cool Connor but, Steven, I need an answer. The sphere that came out of Airdramon’s body, what was that and why did it have a lock and chains on it?” I asked.
“Gabriel, I may be experienced, but what you described right there has never happened, for me… hold on for a moment. Wizardmon, reload!” steven exclaimed as he held his D-Chamber, which had a green light.
“What is it?” Wizardmon asked Steven.
“Do you know what this is?” I asked as I directed him to the monitor, pointing at the locked sphere.
“That is a digicore, but something’s wrong with it.” Wizardmon stated, as he rubbed his chin curiously.
“Do you know how to fix it,” Brendan asked from across the room.
“I have a feeling that the only way to, for lack of a better term, unlock it, is the keys that unlock evolution.” Wizardmon guessed.
“So we failed before we got there?” Connor presumed.
“Yes,” Mathias Bruhn agreed, “but we had no idea that this was happening.”
“But then why didn’t our cores become locked?” KoKabuterimon asked.
“The portal must have done it,” Daomon suggested, “he destabilised the portal before going in.”
“So what now is every digimon that enters through the portal end up soulless?” Kamemon assumed.
“There is more than one portal,” Wizardmon said, “you should know this. There are roughly six stable portals now.”
“Wizardmon… how long has it been since you’ve been to the Digital World?” Daomon asked while looking at the ground grimly…
“I forget, which is surprising, so I made some assumptions with that number. Eow many is there?”
“The portal the three of us entered is the last remaining portal in the Digital World…” Daomon explained.
“So you are the only backup we’ll get for a long time,” I guessed.
“Exactly, but there’s more. The digital world is on the brink of civil war. Hell, metaphorically and literally, broke lose.” Kokabuterimon explained.
“So we are going in all Doom style,” Brendan asked energetically.
“No, if you three enter the gate, your human bodies will disintegrate while your partners will end up Soulless.” Wizardmon stated, “It’s kind of a two way street.”
“We just sit and wait,” I formulated, “we can’t bring the fight to them.”
“Precisely,” Steven said, “we will formally begin your training. Good luck.”
Meanwhile outside on the roof of the building outside of Chambers and More.
“My, My so it looks as if we have new friends to ‘play’ with,” a boy in a black suit with a yellow tie thought aloud.
“Tell me when I can kill them,” a small black jester stated near him.
“Not yet let’s see how they fare against a real locked core Digimon, a storm’s coming Impmon, and I don’t think their ready…”
“Hmph... Fine!” Impmon reluctantly agreed.
Bzzt... bzzt…
“Hmm oh yeah, hello, uhuh yeah, alright Betzalel out” He ended the call, “alright Impmon let’s go,” He said as he held up a Black D-chamber, with Gray accents. He activated the digivice, with a Black key, causing the demon to glow, with a white energy. He grew, into a white demon, with tattered bat like wings and large horns similar to a bulls. “Alright Ice-Devimon,Let’s fly!”
Back inside Chambers and more.
“Huh weird…” I thought aloud.
“What’s wrong?” Steven asked.
“I swear I felt the same feeling I felt when you evolved Wizardmon.” I explained.
“That’s useful, but not good,” Steven went to a console and typed a few thing in, “strange you said the exact same feeling.”
“It was a little weaker than Wizardmon’s but very similar, what’s that mean?”
“Someone digivolved somewhere around here,” Bruhn reached in his pocket and pulled out a white digivice with yellow accents, “that means there is someone that has the potential, or alpha went rouge.”
Is that his? I thought to myself.
“Do we go after it?” Connor asked.
“They went rouge and are ballsy enough to come around here,” Brendan laughed, “no we are not even close.”
“Anyway since we don’t have the strength to fight them now, what now?” I asked, looking at my partner, but asked Steven.
“You train in the simulation room,” Steven gestured to Wizardmon, “this is your first opponent, good luck.”
“Well than…” I exclaimed, “alright let’s do this!”
“All of you at once,” Wizardmon looked confident, “that should give you a small advantage.”
In Room one, Brendan, Connor, and I with our partners.
“Oh, the tamers aren’t allowed to fight in this, simulation.” Steven said over the PA.
“I’m going over here,” Brendan took a spot and sat against the wall.
“Begin!” Wizardmon stated as he jumped into the air, and sent a barrage of ice shards at Kokabuterimon.
“Daomon, intercept and diffuse the attack!” I suggested. Daomon sent a fireball at the ice shard and they melted.
“KoKabuterimon, do whatever you do,” Brendan suggested, “I have no idea what you do.” Kokabuterimon then opened his wings and flew up to Wizardmon, his pincers were glowing, he then slashed at him
“Scoop Slash!” Kokabuterimon announced. Wizardmon then activated a red spell circle which bombarded the insect with hundreds of fire balls. Sending Kokabuterimon into the padded ground.
“And that’s why you don’t announce your attack,” Brendan summed up while running to help him.
“Kamemon, attack with an armored missile!” Connor ordered the turtle.
“Aye aye sir!” the turtle replied whom then removed his helmet and launched an arrow shaped missile at Wizardmon. Who dodged the missile, but the missile turned around due to it being a guided missile and hit Wizardmon directly in the back.
“You hit me, then time to not joke around,” Wizardmon quickly created three summoning circles and used the forces of nature to attack Kamemon.
“Shell Guard!” Kamemon stored his body on his shell, which reflected the attacks back at Wizardmon.
“Freaking turtles…” Wizardmon said as he quickly dodged the elemental attacks.
“Eat this!!!” Daomon exclaimed as he jumped into the air as a purple and white flame erupted from his body, he then spun in a downward direction towards Wizardmon, in a tornado like spiral, as the he was falling from the ceiling, where he climbed up to.
“Huh?!” Wizardmon exclaimed as he began to dodge the flame spiral, but wasn’t fast enough and he was clipped in the arm with the attack. “You’re a fast one, Daomon.”
“Fastest around, Infernal Fusion!” he announced as the arm that was clipped burst into flames.
“Alright you guys enough…” Steven ordered, as Wizardmon’s lower arm fell to the ground, with golden specks flowing from it, as it disappeared.
“Call the German team, I’ve been disarmed,” Wizardmon complained.
“‘Tis but a scratch,” Brendan added.
“I am surrounded by nerds,” Connor complained as he was slumped against the wall.
